Automation & Control Solutions

Improve process reliability and operating efficiencies

AES can help you implement and maintain an automation and control solution that ensures you get the most from your bioprocessing platforms. We will work closely with you to understand your process requirements and challenges, and then offer a solution that meets your needs today and in the future. Whether you need to upgrade your existing system and infrastructure, or implement a new automation and control solution from start to finish, AES can support your needs.

Our team of knowledgeable engineers has broad hands-on experience with all of the leading automation platforms, including Emerson DeltaV™, Rockwell Automation, Wonderware, and GE Automation. AES can integrate across all technologies. Plus, we’ll design a solution based on YOUR preferences, including your preferred equipment brands. Our software and automation strengths also include custom panel design and fabrication. Whether you require a stand-alone PLC or a fully integrated DCS, AES can help.

The AES Open Solution puts you in control

At AES, you can count on complete transparency in the solution we provide. Software is open source for added flexibility, also giving you the freedom to update your system as requirements change. And, your AES team is always on call to provide continued support for system upgrades or maintenance, whether on a project basis or through on-site staff augmentation.

When it comes to process automation and control, AES can develop a solution that meets your current requirements while keeping an eye on the future. We’ll design, install, test, validate, train your staff, and provide continued support for as long as you need it.

Specific automation and control services include:

  • Migration from your legacy DCS or PLC system
  • Design, fabrication, testing and installation of stand-alone PLCs (Programmable Logic Panel)
  • Implementation and optimization of your preferred DCS (Distributed Control System)
  • Process automation
  • Validation to meet your regulatory requirements

System benefits

The system creates the ideal environment for a wide range of cell lines and organisms and supports high cell density processes. Typical applications include bacterial and mammalian product cell line systems. Bioreactors, available in sizes from 2L to XXL, can be used as a platform for solera, seed train, perfusion or N stage batch and fed-batch operations. bioreactor system

Space-saving design that’s easy to use

The system’s streamlined externally housed quad-pump saves you valuable work space whether in the lab or a commercial environment. And when part of an automated process, the industrial control layer enables remote process monitoring and control wherever network access is available. The control system’s intuitive user interface makes it easy for you to monitor and adjust all processes running on the AES Bioreactor Cell Culture System.

YOU keep control

The control layer creates a modular system that easily integrates with an existing distributed control system (DCS) or as the start of a new site DCS. All online adjustments, historization and system information is presented remotely through your networked computer or local HMI. Control hardware and software are 21 CFR Part 11, GMP/GLP and ISA-88 compliant to satisfy regulatory requirements. Additionally, all control software code is transparent and open source, giving you the freedom to make modifications as needed. will also provide continued support, as needed, ervice
